Integrating plant-plant competition for nitrogen into a 3D individual-based model simulating the effects of cropping systems on weed dynamics

چکیده

Promoting biological weed regulation via competition for resources requires better understanding the functioning of heterogeneous canopies in nitrogen-deficient situations. Mechanistic simulation models are powerful tools to reach this goal. Our objective was integrate plant-plant nitrogen into preexisting FlorSys model simulating effects cropping systems on dynamics and crop production. The formalisms were either created or inspired from other adapted make them compatible with individual-based representation FlorSys. Plant uptake simulated by confronting plant demand (driven shoot growth) supply (depending root characteristics, soil-nitrogen availability presence neighboring plants roots same soil zone). A stress index allowed accounting impact nutrition photosynthesis, biomass allocation morphology. new consisted only seven species-specific parameters. Despite simplifying hypotheses formalisms, predictions good agreement knowledge canopy crop-weed interactions. We provide first mechanistic system focusing weeds that simulates (in addition light). It will be useful understand role interactions identify agroecological management strategies promoting competition.

A model simulating the dynamics of plant mitochondrial genomes.

Molecular evolution of the plant mitochondrial genome involves rearrangements due to the presence of highly recombining repeated sequences. As a result, this genome is composed of a set of molecules of various sizes that generate each other through recombination. The model presented simulates the evolution of various frequencies of the different types of molecules over successive cell cycles. I...

investigating the feasibility of a proposed model for geometric design of deployable arch structures

deployable scissor type structures are composed of the so-called scissor-like elements (sles), which are connected to each other at an intermediate point through a pivotal connection and allow them to be folded into a compact bundle for storage or transport. several sles are connected to each other in order to form units with regular polygonal plan views. the sides and radii of the polygons are...
